Top 5 Best Sidekicks in Talk Show History

With the passing of Ed McMahon, it's a good time to reflect on the best talk show sidekicks.  He, of course, is on the top, but there are some surprises on this short list:

1.  Ed McMahon - Truly the best sidekick ever.  He and Johnny Carson were in perfect sync with each other for thirty years.

2.  Regis Philbin - Joey Bishop's sidekick.  He has become one of the greatest television personalities of all time.

3.  Andy Richter - Conan's early sidekick who has come back home this year.  He provided some of the show's best comic moments in the early years.

4.  Hugh Downs - Jack Paar's sidekick.  He was the glue and stability for the volatile Paar.

5.  Guillermo Rodriquez - Yes, Jimmy Kimmel's parking lot security guard turned sidekick is on the list because he will try literally anything.  The Guillermo highlight reel can compete with the best of them.
