10 Top Performers: Best Selling Musical Acts Since 2000

Paul Grein has a great music blog on Yahoo! called Chart Watch that I strongly encourage you to check out if you are a music fan.  He posted an article recently where he revealed the top twenty best-selling musical acts since 2000.  Check it out to see all twenty, but here are some highlights:

Best selling solo act - Eminem with 31 million albums sold. (And biggest selling musical act overall)

Best selling active band - Linkin Park with 21 million copies sold.

Best selling retired band - The Beatles with 27 million copies sold.

Best selling country music act - Tim McGraw with 24 million sold.

Best selling female solo act - Britney Spears with 23 million sold.

Best selling pop male artist - Josh Groban with 19 million albums sold.

Best selling hard rock band - Metallica with 18 million copies sold.

Best selling pop group - *NSYNC with 18 million sold.

Best selling female band - Dixie Chicks with 18 million sold.

Best selling deceased sold performer - Johnny Cash with 18 million copies sold.

I bet there were some surprises there, huh?  By the way, other acts did sell more than some mentioned above.  For example, Toby Keith, Nelly, Nickelback and others sold a ton of records, but I just selected out the acts that were the tops in their respective categories.  Again, good job to Paul Grein for his excellent work.
